ARTIST

Dubbed by many as "The Dancehalltologist", Kevin "Suppa Kid" Petrona has been the main force into bringing dancehall/reggae music back to life on the island of St. Maarten / Saint Martin. With his nightly show on Laser 101, Suppa Kid wowed the island and educated them at the same time on what's hot, and what's not on the dancehall/reggae scene. With his knowledge and love for the genre of music, Suppa is respected by all!

Always dropping the newest singles and riddims, usually before anyone else, Suppa definitely has gained a great following locally, internationally and worldwide. With exclusive links to producers, artists, DJ's and promoters, Suppa is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

This young, energetic dude started radio back in 2000. It started off as a joke, but when he was given the job, he quickly fell in love with the trade. Starting off as a co-host on the popular youth show "Loud N' Lovin It", then to co-host and co-producer on the number one morning show "The Rude Awakening Show w/ Bulldog", to becoming the host and producer of his own show "The Unofficial Suppa Kid Show" which was then renamed to "The Suppa Session" in July 2007.

Not only does he have talent behind the mic, but on stage as well. Suppa has been entertaining the people of St. Maarten at various stage shows, concerts, parties and more. He also defended the reason why they call him the "Dancehalltologist" when he entered his first ever clash against veterans, and came out victorious in "The Last Man Standing Clash Competition".

Suppa Kid also forms 1/3 of the "Celebrity Alliance" which they have been affectionately called on the island. It consists of St. Maarten's number 1 DJ, 'Cut Creator' DJ Outkast, and St. Maarten's best rapper, K-Dot. Together they create the unstoppable force known as K-oS. Though it wasn't the intention, K-oS released some singles that all became number one hits and classic favorites on St. Maarten / Saint Martin and the surrounding islands.

On July 25th, 2008, Suppa told the St. Maarten listeners that he would be taking a break from the airwaves to pursue his studies and take up some opportunities offered to him in the Netherlands. Within weeks of landing in the land of cheese, Suppa’s name and fame started to grow tremendously. With gigs being lined up almost weekly, and being the headliner for some of the biggest parties in the Netherlands, the potential of Suppa Kid was seen on a new level. With guest appearances on Holland’s top radio shows, invites to host and DJ at different events in different countries and cities, Suppa Kid was definitely beginning to live his dream.

Dj WaxFiend belongs to the top Urban/Dancehall DJ's in Holland. He has rocked almost every club and venue in Holland and he is now taking his crowd-rocking skills abroad as well. Different European countries like Germany, Spain, the UK and Sweden as well as Caribbean countries like Saint Maarten, Aruba & Surinam are amongst the list of places where WaxFiend turned clubs upside down.

What started in 2000 as a hobby of a Hip-hop-fanatic that used to make mix tapes from radio recordings, expanded into his way of life. The addiction really started from when he bought his first turntable. From then all his money and time went into practicing his mixing and turntablism skills and studying and buying music on vinyl, hence the name WaxFiend (‘Wax' is the material used to fabricate vinyl records, a ‘fiend' is an addicted person). By studying the origins of Hip-hop WaxFiend learned about music styles like Funk, Soul, R&B, House, Disco and the music he eventually fell in love with as well: Reggae and Dancehall.

These days WaxFiend's flavor is a blend of Hip-hop/R&B (Urban) mixed with Dancehall/Reggae
influences, spiced up with a hint of House, Disco/Classics, Soca, Zouk, Rock and anything else that serves one purpose: making you sweat! The combination of his energetic mixing skills, originality, music knowledge and diversity create his unique style that was often imitated but never duplicated. Sean Paul, Ludacris and Jagged Edge are some of the artist WaxFiend has opened up for. He can be found as resident DJ at parties like ‘The Basement', ‘R&B Diamonds', ‘Da Goodness' and has played at well known events like Dance Valley, Lowlands and more. Also WaxFiend has done TV-Projects and events for Nike called ‘Panna Knockout', produced award winning Mix CD's with Dutch artist like Kempi and The Opposites and produced well known remixes and tracks like Amo-Lab's Dancehall hit ‘Eeenergy'.

His own event, Jamrock, started in 2005 and has grown to be Europe's biggest Dancehall/Reggae party! The combination of big events and the intimate weekly club night, the weekly radio show on national radio (Lijn5) and WaxFiend's marketing and promotional skills caused Jamrock to create and evolve the Dancehall/Reggae scene in Holland as it is now.

All this work was not left unnoticed as WaxFiend has been nominated for several awards including the Dutch MOBO-Award, and the Urban Awards by BNN. In 2006 Jamrock won the PP2G Award (Holland's biggest urban online community) for ‘Best party of 2006' and in 2007 WaxFiend & Kempi where rewarded with a Gouden Greep Award for ‘Best Mix tape'.

In 2008 WaxFiend is busy making the Jamrock community grow while also rocking crowds every week. It doesn't matter what size club, race, age, religion, sexuality or color, when Dj WaxFiend is playing everybody will share one common interest: DANCE TILL YOU DROP!
